Brussels, 29 April 2021 – The EU wine companies applaud Ambassador Tai on her successful testimony before the Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies of the Senate Appropriations Committee on April 27, 2021.
In the Ambassador’s Opening Statement, she lists the four-month suspensions of the Airbus/Boeing tariffs with the EU in highlighting her early successes.
CEEV urges EU and US authorities to scale up efforts and to use every upcoming opportunity to settle definitively this long-running dispute. Until this is achieved, CEEV calls for a sine die extension of the tariff suspension to provide exporters on both sides of the Atlantic with the predictability they need to plan ahead. This is particularly important in light of the approaching end of the suspension period on 11th July and the added complication of shortage of shipping containers, which is delaying trade at a global scale.
